Surf the Big Waves of Hawaii
If you're visiting Hawaii in the winter, keep an eye out for some of the
world's largest waves—and biggest names in professional surfing. Three
legendary beaches on Oahu's North Shore: Ehukai Beach (Banzai Pipeline),
Sunset Beach and Haleiwa Beach, are host to the Van's Triple Crown of
Surfing where spectators line the beach to catch the excitement. Nearby
Waimea Bay is the site of the Quiksilver Big Wave Invitational.
Competition days change depending on surf conditions, however the
stunning views, charming countryside, and surf towns are worth the day
trip to the North Shore. Neighbor islands have their share of big wave
action where you can watch surfers carve through 10-20-foot crescents at
Honolua Bay and the epic Peahi (Jaws) on Maui, and Hanalei Bay on
Kauai.
While big wave surfing is reserved for the pros, there are beaches on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii, the Big Island, where anyone can give surfing a try.
If you can't catch a wave in Hawaii or to Hawaii, Kapo Trading Company will deliver Hawaii to you! Whether you're looking for Hawaiian clothing, tiki decor, or unique Hawaiian gifts, you'll find everything Hawaii at Kapo Trading Company.
